Energy Storage Systems
Eir Solus develops both co-located and standalone energy storage assets, to unlock the full potential of intermittent wind and solar resources
Energy Storage Systems
Eir Solus has a pipeline of energy storage systems across the Island of Ireland
Eir Solus develops stand-alone battery storage systems as well as hybrid energy systems that link battery storage with wind and/or solar plants. Batteries are an important building block of the energy transition, as they stabilise electricity grids and enable a faster expansion of renewable energies.
Flexible storage systems optimally complement renewable energy systems. In times of high electricity production (especially from renewable energy), they charge electricity and feed it back into the grid at times of high demand.
350+ MW
Eir Solus currently has 350+ megawatt under development
Stand-alone
Standalone batteries typically consist of lithium-ion cells, which offer high energy density, long cycle life, and efficient charge/discharge capabilities.
Hybrid
We also develop Hybrid Energy Storage System (HESS) projects which consists of two or more types of energy storage technologies
Learn more about Battery Storage
Storage Technology
Lithium-ion batteries, used in phones and electric vehicles, are currently the dominant grid-scale storage technology
Green Energy
Battery storage technology has a key part to play in ensuring homes and businesses can be powered by green energy, even when the sun isn’t shining or the wind has stopped blowing
Balancing Demand
Battery storage is dispatched every second to keep the supply and demand on the energy grid in balance, preventing imbalance and blackouts
The emergence of battery energy storage facilities offers a gradual replacement of fossil-fuel power plants during peak energy demand.
